On the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Conference being held in Muscat, the capital city of Oman, Hon’ble Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. MIYAJI Takuma, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Japan today. Both the dignitaries discussed about the long-standing multi-faceted bilateral relations between Nepal and Japan.

Likewise, Hon’ble Foreign Minister held meeting with Hon. Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka this morning. The conversation between the two Ministers dealt with the broad areas of mutual cooperation between the two countries.

Hon’ble Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran today. Both the Ministers underscored the importance of bilateral relations ranging from people-to-people ties to partnerships in areas of trade, commerce, investment, tourism and other potential areas of cooperation. The Hon’ble Minister thanked her Iranian counterpart for the telephone call held between them very recently. She urged for the continued goodwill and ‘good office’ of the government of Iran for safe release and immediate repatriation of Mr. Bipin Joshi, a Nepali student who has been taken captive by Hamas since 7 October 2023.

Similarly, Hon’ble Foreign Minister held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maldives, on the sidelines of the Conference today, and discussed matters concerning mutual cooperation and partnerships between the two countries for mutual benefit of both sides.

Hon’ble Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba had a bilateral meeting with H.E. Ranil Wickremesinghe, Former President of Sri Lanka today. Matters of bilateral relations and mutual cooperation were discussed.

Hon’ble Foreign Minister is accompanied by Ambassador Ram Kaji Khadka, Head of the Central Asia, West Asia and Africa Division at the Ministry, H.E. Dornath Aryal, Ambassador of Nepal to the Sultanate of Oman, Mr. Bishesh Kumar Sah, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal and senior officials at the Office of the Foreign Minister in the Conference. Hon’ble Minister is scheduled to meet virtually the Nepali Ambassadors based in GCC region and address the Nepali community in Oman on 18 February 2025. She is scheduled to return to Nepal on 19 February 2025 upon completion of the visit to Oman.
